The science behind three weeks of wear.

Three weeks of wear is no accident. It comes from real UV gel chemistry, an apex-shaped strip that hugs the natural nail, and a lamp that cures the gel in sixty seconds.

Here we explain every step, every wavelength, and the most common myths.

The science behind three weeks of wear.

Real gel. Real wear. With proof.

Tested in independent labs, worn by our pre-launch panel of 30 women. Three weeks per manicure, a 10,000-hour lamp lifespan, 12 to 14 manicures per kit.

What is UV gel, really?

What is UV gel, really?

UV gel is a liquid acrylate resin that hardens under UV light of a specific wavelength. It polymerises. Unlike ordinary polish, which dries by evaporating, gel cures into a single, hard-wearing layer that bonds chemically with the nail surface.

Once cured, it's water-resistant, oil-resistant and scuff-resistant for up to three weeks. Salons have used UV gel since the 1980s. We've packed it into pre-shaped strips you apply at home.

Why it lasts three weeks.

Why it lasts three weeks.

Three reasons. First, the chemistry. Fully cured methacrylates form long-chain polymers that stand up to daily life.

Second, the bond. The prep tools smooth and degrease the nail surface, so the strip grips the keratin mechanically, on top of the chemical bond.

Third, the strip shape. Pre-shaped to the apex curve of the natural nail. That keeps the seal closed at the cuticle and free edge, exactly where ordinary gel lifts first.

The light spectrum, explained.

Different photoinitiators in the gel respond to different wavelengths. Our lamp emits two: a UVA peak at 365 nm for deep curing, and a violet peak at 405 nm to finish the surface. Together they cure the gel evenly in sixty seconds. No tacky layer, no soft core.

365 NM · UVA
Deep cure. Reaches the base coat through the pigmented layer.
405 NM · VIOLET
Surface finish. Cures the top coat and stops the tacky layer.
AUTO-SENSE · 60 S
The lamp starts the moment your hand slides in. Cures in exactly sixty seconds.
6 W · 10,000 HRS
Long-life LED. On paper, a decade of weekly manicures.

Myth vs. reality

Myth vs. reality
MYTH
  • At-home gel kits never last more than a week.
  • UV lamps damage your nails.
  • Soak-off removal weakens the nail bed.
REALITY
  • With real UV gel chemistry, a manicure lasts three weeks on average, documented in our pre-launch panel of 30 women, day by day.
  • Our 6W LED cures in timed 60-second pulses at 365 and 405 nm, non-ionising, with no UVB, well below dermatological limits.
  • The acetone-free soak-off removal in our wraps releases the gel with no filing and no buffing. Eight minutes. No thinning.

Frequently asked.

SEE ALL FAQS
Is the UV lamp safe? +
Yes. Our LED lamp runs at 365 and 405 nm, both non-ionising wavelengths with no UVB. The timed 60-second pulse sits well below dermatological limits. If you want to be extra careful, put sunscreen on the back of your hands before curing.
Will the gel damage my natural nail? +
No. Damage from gel manicures almost always happens during removal, not from the gel itself. We use an acetone-free soak-off formula: 8 minutes in our removal wraps, then the strip lifts off. No filing, no scraping, no thinning.
Why does Noux last longer than other at-home kits? +
Three reasons: real UV gel chemistry instead of water-based imitations, an apex-shaped strip that hugs the natural nail so the seal stays closed, and an LED lamp that fully polymerises base and top coat in one minute. Most at-home kits fall down on one of these three.
Is Noux HEMA-free? +
Yes. HEMA is the methacrylate most often responsible for nail-related allergies on patch tests. Noux is HEMA-free, DI-HEMA-free and TPO-free, stricter than the EU requires. It's also 12-free (no formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, xylene, parabens, TPHP and more), vegan and cruelty-free.
What's in the kit? +
An auto-cure LED lamp (6W, 10,000-hour lifespan), 20 pre-shaped UV gel strips in 8 sizes, a top coat, a soak-off remover, prep tools (file, buffer, cuticle pusher) and a step-by-step guide.
